Diagnostic Laboratory

Lab tests are used to determine the status of a patient’s health. Diagnostic lab tests can be performed on a sample of a patient’s blood, urine, stool, respiratory secretions, or body tissue.

In our office we use Quest Diagnostics to run any diagnostic tests our providers may feel are necessary to monitor chronic illnesses or help diagnose new conditions.  We DO NOT draw labs that are being requested by another provider.  If you have a lab request from another provider you will need to take those lab orders to an outside Quest or LabCorp drawing site.

We schedule labs for a specific date and time.  This is so that a request for your lab work will be completed before your arrival.  Lab appointments are scheduled every 15 minutes from 7:30 am to 12:30 pm and from 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm.  We do allow for some flexibility in the lab schedule.  We allow this flexibility as we understand patients do not want to wait to have bloodwork at 11 am if they are fasting.  So, for example, if your scheduled appointment time is 11 am, you can come as early as 9 am.  Please understand that if you do come earlier than your actual scheduled time, we are working you into the schedule and you could have a wait of 15-30 minutes.

Some lab testing does require you to be fasting.  If this is the case then you must not eat or drink after midnight.  You are allowed to take medications, and you may have water or black coffee/tea, but you must not have anything else.  If you are unsure if the lab work you are going to be having is fasting, then you may contact your providers nurse for clarification.
